My kids love spending time on the computer.  If it has a screen and games they want to use it…especially if I am the one on it.  It can sometimes be challenging to find games that are age appropriate and educational, but that will also entertain our kids!

There is a big age gap in my kids.  Almost 5 years!  So the games that my oldest boy wants to play are much too hard for his little brother.  That’s why I’m grateful for games that are games specially designed for preschool age children but that don’t bore the older kids.  William just loves it when his big brother spends a few minutes with him, playing the puzzle games designed for younger kids.  It helps William feel  a little closer to his gamer-big-brother.

William loves to play puzzle games.  Developmentally, they help both with his hand-eye coordination, as well as his problem solving skills (and like all the boys in his family, he needs all the help he can get when it comes to patients!)  So recently we introduced William to two new puzzle games which have quickly become his favorite Windows 8.1 apps.  Today I’m going to tell you about Chuggington Puzzle Stations by Budge Studios Inc.

Chuggington

Download Chuggington Puzzle Stations to your Windows 8.1 device and inside you’ll find jigsaw puzzles, connect the dots and hidden objects, all featuring Chuggington and his friends!  Each station had three levels of difficulty making this app perfect for beginners and the more advanced child.  With so many levels and stations to choose from, kids will want to play over and over again!  They can even collect special chugger cards they earn through play.

My sons favorite part of Chugginton Puzzle Stations is by far the jigsaw puzzles.  He’s a bit of a problem solver, so I knew he would just love being able to drag and drop the puzzle pieces in place.  I like that more than one person can play the jigsaw puzzles.  This allows me to include a lesson in taking turns along with his play time.

The connect the dots game was something William caught on to quickly.  He knows his numbers at least as far as 20, but together we’ve never really practiced the order the come in on the screen.  So when it was time to try out the connect the dots game, it took him a few minutes to actually figure out that he had to draw a line with his finger from one number to the next.  But once he figured it out, he loved it.  It’s as easy as counting, 1 2 3.  When you connect the dots you reveal some of your kids most loved Chuggington characters!

Last but not least is the hidden objects.  In the corner is a picture of the object your child has to search for.  The picture they’re looking on is larger than the screen though, so they have to use the touch screen to move the picture around to search from corner to corner.  But don’t worry, if your child is having a hard time finding the hidden object a little sprinkle of a firework will shine near the object to help them find it.

Chuggington Puzzle Stations is currently a favorite at our house, and if you have young kids who are looking for a new game to play on your Windows 8.1 device, I highly recommend trying it out.   Chuggington Puzzle Station can be purchased in the Windows Store for $3.99.
